Teja Nidamanuru had hit a century against West Indies in CWC Qualifiers to knock out the two-time world champions.

The Netherlands had a very exciting road to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 qualification. They played in the ICC CWC Qualifiers and made it into the finals to make it to the ICC event along with Sri Lanka.

During that tournament, the Netherlands defeated West Indies in a super over finish, which resulted in the two-time World Champions being knocked out of the race for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The Netherlands were asked to chase 374 runs in that match, a huge task, that too against a formidable Windies attack.

But one batter stood out for the Netherlands and that was Teja Nidamanuru. The right-hander hammered 111 in just 76 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes to tie the match. Later Netherlands caused a huge upset by winning the super over and knocking the West Indies out of contention.

With the Netherlands opening their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign against Pakistan in Hyderabad on October 6, 2023, there is curiosity about who is Teja Nidamanuru, one of the most exciting batters from the Orange brigade.

Who is Teja Nidamanuru?

As his name hints, Teja Nidamanuru was born in India. His hometown is Vijayawada of Andhra Pradesh. He was born on August 22, 1994, and his full name is Anil Teja Nidamanuru.  He moved to New Zealand with his family when he was quite young. Teja loved cricket and even represented Auckland at the domestic level, but he could not break into the New Zealand team.

His family then moved from New Zealand to the Netherlands after he completed his education. He got a job in the Dutch nation and his love for cricket was always there, so he joined a club named Kampong in Utrecht. After some wonderful performances, Nidamanuru rose up the ranks and finally got his national call-up.

He made his ODI debut against West Indies in Amstelveen and scored a fifty on debut in 2022. Thus far, Nidamanuru has played 20 ODIs, scoring 501 runs at an average of 29.47. He has 2 centuries to his name and 2 fifties as well. Apart from his recent ton against West Indies, he also has a 96-ball 110 against Zimbabwe in CWC Super League series match.

He went past Glenn Maxwell and Abdul Razzaq on the list of players with the highest individual ODI score in successful run chases while batting at number seven or below.
