Titas Sadhu picked three wickets in finals of Asian Games 2023 against Sri Lanka.

India’s 18-years-old young Titas Sadhu became a star for India in the ongoing Asian Games 2023. Titias Sadhu, with her pace and swing bowling, won India their first ever gold medal in cricket in the biggest Asian sports competition. Sadhu bowled a magical spell to rattle Sri Lankan top-order in the game. Indian women’s team defeated Sri Lanka women’s team in the gold medal game by 19 runs in Hangzhou, China. This is the second gold medal for India at Asian Games 2023.

Titas Sadhu’s opening spell made a significant impact on Sri Lankan chase. Indian team put a modest 116 on the board. Right-arm pacer Titas Sadhu delivered a magical opening spell and picked up three wickets in the power-play. She got two wickets in his second over and then dismissed captain Chamari Athapattu on 12 runs. Sadhu got 3 wickets in her 4 overs and conceded only 6 runs. She delivered 18 dot balls in her spell. Sadhu made her international debut against Bangladesh in the semi-finals round.

Who is Titas Sadhu?

Born and brought up in West Bengal’s Chinsura, Titas Ghosh was spotted by Jhulan Goswami and then expedited for Indian team selection. Titas father, Ranadeep Sadhu, is also an athlete, and she also wants to become one like her father. She trained under Shib Shankar Paul. Paul is working as a Bengal women’s team coach, and he gave Titas Sadhu an opportunity at the young age of just 16 years. She also represented Indian Women’s Under-19 in the T20 World Cup this year in South Africa.

Titas Sadhu was awarded player of the match in the under-19 T20 World Cup final as well. She picked up 2 wickets in her 4 overs and conceded just 6 runs. Her pace and movement of the wicket didn’t allow the batters to open their arms against herself. She was also part of the women’s emerging team in Asia Cup tournament as well. Titas represents the Delhi Capitals in Women’s Premier League. Titas Sadhu is seen as one of the finest prospects for pace bowling in Indian women’s camp.

Hangzhou wicket was a bowler's paradise throughout its women’s team event. Indian women’s team defeated Sri Lanka by 19 runs to pick up the gold medal. Sri Lanka had to be satisfied with the silver medal, and Bangladesh won the bronze medal game against Pakistan earlier on Monday. The men's event will commence on September 27th, with quarter-finals scheduled next week on October 3rd. Indian men’s team will open their campaign directly in the quarter-finals.
