However, given this is a knockout contest, the weather will be in focus. The ICC has allocated a reserve day for both the semi-finals. In case the match is hindered due to weather conditions or due to rain, it will be extended by 90 minutes on Thursday (March 5) and by 120 minutes on Friday (March 6) to ensure that a minimum 5-over match takes place.

In case the match is abandoned, the result will be decided based on the Super 8 points table. In such a scenario, England will advance through to the final against New Zealand to be played on Sunday, March 8.

England topped Group 2 in the Super 8 stage after they won all their matches, while India finished second in Group 1 in the Super 8 stage. In case the match is abandoned, the loss to South Africa might come back to haunt the Men in Blue.
