Pakistan are placed in Group A in the T20 World Cup 2026.

The T20 World Cup 2026 has become a hot topic of discussion in the entire cricket fraternity even before its start. A fresh controversy has come to the forefront as Pakistan are seeking to boycott their clash against India in the group stage.

Both the Asian giants are placed in Group A and are scheduled to lock horns on February 15 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. However, the Men-in-Green might not participate in the encounter as a mark of protest against Bangladesh’s removal from the tournament.

Bangladesh had demanded that their matches be shifted to Sri Lanka instead of India. The governing body denied their demand and eventually replaced them with Scotland in Group C.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who supported Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in the matter, slammed ICC for their harsh decision. PCB also blamed ICC for having double standards, as they agreed to a similar request by India during the ICC Champions Trophy last year.

After a meeting with the Pakistan government, PCB decided to boycott their match against India in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Although official confirmation from the PCB is awaited on this matter, the ICC has already warned Pakistan that it will face serious consequences if it takes such a step. Notably, ICC can also remove the Men-in-Green from the 20-nation tournament in such a scenario.

Notably, if Pakistan are removed from the T20 World Cup 2026, then Bangladesh might replace them. Following their ouster, Bangladesh will be the next team to be given a chance to re-enter the tournament.

Moreover, Bangladesh will also be able to play all of their matches in Sri Lanka if they replace the Salman Agha & Co. Pakistan are scheduled to play all of their games in Sri Lanka as they refused to travel to India for the tournament.

Therefore, if Bangladesh replace Pakistan in Group A, their request to play all their matches in Sri Lanka will automatically be fulfilled.

Meanwhile, the T20 WC 2026 will commence on February 7 and witness the final on March 8. Currently, a few teams are busy in warm-up matches and pulling their socks up ahead of the campaign.
