The ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024 award was announced on January 25, 2025.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed the ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year on January 25, 2024. The year 2024 was a remarkable year for women’s cricket, headlined by the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, where New Zealand claimed their maiden T20 world title (men’s or women’s).

The tournament was a disappointing one for the Indian cricket team, who finished third in Group A and were knocked out in the group stage. However, the biggest shock came when tournament favorites Australia were knocked out in the semi-final by South Africa against all odds.

Although England women failed to reach the semis of the tournament, they ended the year with the most WT20I wins in 2024 among Full Member nations. They were followed by India.

Who won ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024 award?

New Zealand all-rounder Melie Kerr has been named the ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year for 2024. Kerr was the Player of the Tournament in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup last year, where she played a key role in leading New Zealand to their first T20 World Cup title.

The 24-year-old scored 387 runs at an average of 24.18 and took 29 wickets with a strike rate of 13.6 in 18 WT20I matches in 2024.

Melie Kerr is only the second New Zealander to win this award, following Suzie Bates, who received it in 2016. Kerr produced a terrific performance in the semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup, where she took 2/14, including the crucial wicket of Deandra Dottin, helping New Zealand secure a narrow eight-run victory.

She carried her impressive form into the final against South Africa, picking up 3/24 in her four overs. Her match-turning spell included two wickets in a single over, dismissing key batters Laura Wolvaardt and Anneke Bosch.
