Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will aim for their first victory of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as they take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 5 (Sunday1). The RCB vs CSK, match 11 of IPL 2026, is underway at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side had witnessed a humiliating start to the tournament. They lost both matches and are placed at the last spot in the points table.
In their opening game against Rajasthan Royals, CSK suffered a big batting collapse and were bowled out for just 127 runs. RR chased down the target with ease, winning the game by eight wickets.
Against Punjab Kings (PBKS), CSK came up with a better batting performance and piled up 209/5 in the first innings. However, it was not enough for victory as PBKS chased it down by five wickets.
Due to RCB’s good form and home advantage, CSK have a big challenge in front of them. Chennai won the toss and opted to field first in the clash. They went in with the same XI, meaning that Dewald Brevis yet again missed the clash.
Why is Dewald Brevis not part of CSK’s playing XI vs RCB?
Brevis was seen at the practice sessions ahead of the RCB game, which ignited hopes among CSK fans. However, he was not picked in the playing XI once again, meaning that he is yet to recover from the injury.
As per earlier reports, Brevis is set to miss the initial games of IPL 2026 due to a side strain. He was also absent from the last two games and is expected to return to the field in the next clash against Delhi Capitals.
The South African batter gave a brilliant performance last season after joining the team midway as a replacement player. He scored 225 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 180, including two half-centuries.
Following his impressive batting show, the five-time champions retained him in their squad for IPL 2026 for INR 2.20 crore. Brevis bats in the middle-order and is known for his aggressive style of play.
