Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are locking horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their opening game of Indian Premier League 2026. The RR vs CSK encounter got underway on March 30 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
Both teams are aiming for a big comeback in IPL 2026 after their poor performance last year. While RR finished in the second last spot in the points table last season, CSK ended in the last place. Both of them won just four games out of 14.
While Ruturaj Gaikwad has been retained as CSK captain, Rajasthan Royals have appointed Riyan Parag as the new skipper after the ouster of Sanju Samson. The latter joined CSK ahead of the 2026 edition in a trade deal with Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
In the match 3 of IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to field first. Surprisingly, Dewald Brevis was not part of CSK’s playing XI in the clash.
Why did Dewald Brevis miss RR vs CSK clash?
Notably, Brevis has been ruled out of the initial games of IPL 2026 due to a side strain. The South African batter is expected to miss two to three games at the start. His absence will be a big blow for the side and will affect their combination.
The right-handed batsman gave a spectacular performance last season after joining the team midway as a replacement player. He scored 225 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 180, slamming two half-centuries. Following his brilliant batting show, the five-time champions retained him in their squad for INR 2.20 crore.
