The Indian Cricket Team have suffered a massive blow on the first day of the ongoing third test against the England Cricket Team at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Keeper-batter Rishabh Pant faced a finger injury in the second session of the game.
India, who were asked to field first, have been pretty good with the ball in the ongoing game. They have bowled tight lines and lengths and have troubled the England batters big time. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and Nitish Kumar Reddy have been top notch.
While their bowling has been right on the money, the Indian team was jolted with a big blow as well. On the first ball of the 34th over, Rishabh Pant attempted to stop the ball from Jasprit Bumrah, but he got hit on the fingertips, and things didn’t look great for him right after that.
Rishabh Pant was hit on the fingertips of his left hand. He was seen jumping around, and the physios also rushed out to attend to him. His fingers were heavily taped up, and the physios were seen using the magic spray.
He kept for that entire over, but his pain worsened, and then he left the field. This came as a big blow for the team management as he has been the key player for the team in the series.
Why is Dhruv Jurel keeping for India in the first test against England?
With Rishabh Pant getting injured, Dhruv Jurel came out as a substitute keeper. But the left-hander, even after leaving the field, was grimacing on the sidelines. He then was seen climbing up into the dressing room, and head coach Gautam Gambhir left his seat on the balcony to check on him.
The commentators on air mentioned that Rishabh Pant might go for scans, and they suspected a potential fracture. If that is the case, then India will be a batter short and this can surely hamper the result of the game.
The team management would be hoping that Pant recovers as soon as possible. It remains to be seen if the keeper-batter returns on the field on day one or not.
