IPL 2026: Why is Dilshan Madushanka not playing for SRH vs CSK despite being named in XII?

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are clashing with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Saturday, April 18. CSK won the toss and opted to field first in the clash, which is taking place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
SRH captain Ishan Kishan mentioned at the toss that they have made one change to their playing XI, with pacer Dilshan Madushanka replacing spinner Harsh Dubey. Notably, the Sri Lanka fast bowler was recently named as the replacement of Brydon Carse for the rest of the season.
Madushanka was named as one of the impact players and was set to play in the second innings. However, he did not come to the field after SRH’s batting.

Notably, Madushanka was named as one of the impact players. However, due to SRH’s poor batting, they used Liam Livingstone as an impact player. Hence, Madhsanka could not play the SRH vs CSK clash.
Meanwhile, SRH failed to post a total of over 200 against CSK despite a blistering start. Abhishek Sharma (59) and Travis Head (23) made an opening stand of 75 runs. Heinrich Klaasen also scored a half-century.
However, SRH lost many batters cheaply and struggled at 147/5 at one stage. They utilised Liam Livingstone as an impact player; however, he got out for just one run. Eventually, SRH ended with 194/9 on the scoreboard.
CSK pacers did a wonderful job in the bowling. Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj clinched three-wicket hauls, while Mukesh Choudhary got two scalps. They made a wonderful comeback after the first 10 overs, restricting SRH batters from going big.
