Indian Cricket Team celebrated Asia Cup 2025 final victory without the trophy on podium.

The Indian Cricket Team, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, defeated the Pakistan Cricket Team in the final of Asia Cup 2025. They registered a five-wicket win at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday (28th September).

In what was the most entertaining game of Asia Cup 2025, India thrived under pressure. The game truly tested their character and it would be a great confidence booster for them ahead of the big challenge, which is ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

India, who won the toss and opted to field first, bundled out Pakistan for just 146. The spinners in Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel were all over the Pakistan batters. They combined to pick eight wickets as the opposition were reduced to 146 all out from 113/1.

The chase started on a tricky note with big guns in Abhishek Sharma Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav back in the hut for 20. However, after that, Tilak Varma (69*) brought his best and thrived under pressure, at a time when it mattered the most.

Tilak slammed one of the best fifties of his career, while Sanju Samson (23) and Shivam Dube (33) played their part as well. Thanks to their brilliant effort with the bat, India chased the target in the last over and registered their ninth Asia Cup win.

What happened after the game was something that caught the attention of many. The post-match presentation was delayed by around an hour as it was reported that Pakistan players weren’t keen to attend and came very late.

The shocking thing took place when Indian were all set to collect the trophy. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) walked away and it was announced that the Indian team won’t be collecting their trophy today.

However, now the actual reason behind that has been revealed. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia addressed the issue and admitted that India denied taking the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi but agreed to take it from an Emirates Cricket Board official.

He revealed that Mohsin Naqvi ran away with the trophy after Indian players didn’t agree to take it from him. He concluded by saying that they will take strict action. Speaking to ANI, he said:

“We have decided not to take the Asia Cup trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the main leaders of Pakistan. So we decided not to take it from him but that does not mean that the gentleman will take away the trophy with him, along with the medals so it is very unfortunate and we hope that the trophy and the medals will be returned to India as soon as possible.

“There is an ICC conference in November in Dubai. In the next conference, we are going to launch a very serious and very strong protest against the act of the ACC chairperson”.

After the trophy was taken away, Indian players posted the pictures on social media with emojis of a trophy. Almost every player did that and even the team celebrated at the podium without a trophy.
