Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are squaring off in the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League 2026 on Sunday, May 17. The venue of the clash is the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Rajasthan are placed in the fifth spot in the points table and among the top contenders to make it to the playoffs. A victory against DC will push them one step closer to the top four positions.
On the other hand, Delhi are among the weakest teams this season. One more defeat will end their playoffs hopes. Even if they win their next two games, there’s no guarantee that they will make it to the playoffs.
DC captain Axar Patel won the toss and chose to field first in the clash. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav is once again out of DC’s playing XI. He also missed the previous clash against the Punjab Kings.
Why is Kuldeep Yadav missing the DC vs RR clash?
Kuldeep has been overlooked for the encounter. He was dropped in the previous game against PBKS, where DC made multiple changes to the playing XI.
Against RR, Capitals have inducted Tripurana Vijay as a spinner in the playing XI, who is also making his debut in the IPL. Captain Axar is another spinner for the side.
Speaking at the toss, Axar Patel said, “We would like to bowl. Obviously when you win, you feel good, and the atmosphere is positive too. Even when we were losing, the atmosphere was still good, it’s not like we were pointing fingers at anyone.
But when you come after winning, you carry that confidence forward as well. There is only one change. Looking at the nature of the pitch, unfortunately Auqib Nabi misses out, and instead Vijay Tripurana is making his debut”.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep has struggled with his form in IPL 2026. The left-arm spinner has picked up 7 wickets in 11 games at an expensive economy of 10.66. In his last three games, Kuldeep remained wicketless and emerged a bit expensive. He has failed to perform at his best this season.
