On the other hand, the Axar Patel & Co. need to win the encounter to keep their playoffs hopes alive. A defeat will push them out of the playoffs race.
DC captain Axar Patel won the toss and opted to field first in the match. At the toss, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer revealed that Lockie Ferguson will miss the game, which came as a surprise for many. He played in the previous game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Ferguson has a slight niggle and was rested for the game. Ben Dwarshius was picked as his replacement in the playing XI. This was the only change that Punjab made to their side.
“Not at all, it doesn’t shift your mindset. It just teaches you a lot. And I feel in this particular tournament, there are going to be ups and downs and how quickly you turn back and get the best performance is what matters. Ben Dwarshius comes in place of Lockie Ferguson, who has a slight niggle,” Iyer said at the toss.
Ferguson has struggled with his form in IPL 2026. He has played in two games and got only one wicket. He was also quite expensive in both the matches and owns an economy of 12.25.
