Lungi Ngidi has played seven games for DC in IPL 2026 so far.
Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are locking horns for the second time in the Indian Premier League 2026 on Monday, April 27. The venue of the encounter is Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Axar Patel & Co. have won three and lost four out of seven games. With six points, they grab the seventh spot in the IPL 2026 points table. The Capitals faced a horrible defeat in the previous game, where the Punjab Kings chased down a 265-run target to register one of the best chases in IPL history.
On the other hand, Rajat Patidar & Co. have done a superb job in the tournament, winning five games and losing just two out of seven. The defending champions grab the second spot in the points table and look in fabulous form this season. RCB defeated GT by five wickets in the previous game.
In the DC vs RCB clash, Rajat Patidar has won the toss and chose to field first. Notably, Delhi Capitals‘ key pacer Lungi Ngidi is not part of the encounter. He featured in all the previous games, including the last one against PBKS.
Why is Lungi Ngidi not part of DC’s playing XI vs RCB?

Notably, Ngidi was injured in the previous game while fielding. The right-arm pacer sustained a head injury while fielding in the second innings of the match.
He was injured while trying to grab a catch of Priyansh Arya during Axar Patel’s over. He fell on the field and sustained a serious injury to his head.
After the incident, he was seen in immense pain and held his head on the field. The team physios immediately came to the ground and took him out in an ambulance.
The match was halted for some time due to the incident. He could not bowl any overs in the match, which was a big reason behind PBKS’ successful chase in the high-scoring thriller.
Moreover, after undergoing treatment at the hospital, the Proteas fast bowler has recovered from his injury and has rejoined the team. But he is currently under the care of the Delhi Capitals medical staff.
Moreover, the franchise has informed that his injury is not serious; however, they chose to rest him in tonight’s clash to allot him proper rest for recovery. In his absence, DC have added Kyle Jamieson to the playing XI. Dushmantha Chammera was also picked in the match.
Meanwhile, the South Africa stalwart is Delhi’s joint-highest wicket-taker with seven scalps in six games. He has led DC’s pace attack in IPL 2026 so far and bowled at a stunning economy of 8.70.
What injury did Lungi Ngidi suffer in the game against PBKS?
