Why did Mitchell Santner and Corbin Bosch miss RR vs MI clash in IPL 2026?
Mitchell Santner and Corbin Bosch were part of the MI’s previous game against Delhi Capitals.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are clashing in the 13th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The match was affected by rain and was been delayed by about three hours.
Due to the delay, the match has been reduced to 11-over per side. While RR won both of their previous games, MI won one game and lost the other.
MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to field first in the encounter. At the toss, Pandya informed that they have made two changes in their playing XI, with him and Trent Boult coming back into XI in place of Mitchell Santner and Corbin Bosch.
Both of them were part of the previous game against Delhi Capitals (DC). RR did not make any changes to their playing XI.
Why are Mitchell Santner and Corbin Bosch not playing RR vs MI clash of IPL 2026?
MI have benched both of them due to the return of Pandya and Boult. Hence, it is a tactical call. In the previous game, Pandya was unavailable as he was not well, and Bosch replaced him in the squad and Boult had to sit out to the overseas limit.
Speaking after winning the toss, Pandya said, “We are going to bowl first. It has been under covers, in rain-effected games you should bat second. It just gives you a clear idea what total should be.”
“You don’t win the IPL in the first couple of weeks and at the same point of time, you don’t lose it as well. So, yes, we just spoke about in the group what better things we needed to do. And now, you know, it’s just a quick turnaround, so just want to focus on this game and see how we can execute the plans which we have decided. (Team changes) I come back and (Trent) Boulty is back,” he added.
In response, Parag said, “We would have done the same thing actually. It was supposed to be a little dry, but then it rained a lot, so there’s a little bit of moisture. It shouldn’t play that much [of a role] due to the 11-over game, but it is what it is. We’ve had two different types of games here. One that really challenged us and one that kept us on top from start to finish. But really happy with how the boys handled it under pressure, and hope we put the same result today. Same team”.
Meanwhile, RR can jump to the top spot in IPL 2026 points table if they defeat MI in the clash.
