Indian Cricket Team are taking on Australian Cricket Team in last match of the three-match ODI series. The match between the two teams is underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on Saturday, October 25.

Indian went in with two changes, having lost the ODI series already. One among them was a forced one as all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy had to sit out due to the injury, which he sustained during the second match of the series in Adelaide.

Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a left quadriceps injury and was deemed unfit to take part in the match. He was replaced by Kuldeep Yadav, who finally got a chance after missing the first two games of the series in Perth and Adelaide.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released an official statement on Nitish Kumar Reddy, saying that he was unavailable for selection. They also added that he is under the observation of medical and will be assessed on a daily basis.

“Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a left quadriceps injury during the second ODI in Adelaide and was subsequently unavailable for selection for the third ODI. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him on a daily basis,” read the BCCI statement.

Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was added to the squad as a replacement for Hardik Pandya, made his debut in the opening match of the series. He had a decent outing with the bat, hitting two sixes in the last over to take his team to a fighting total.

In the second ODI, he struggled to get going with the bat and ball. He was also criticised a lot for his selection, especially over Kuldeep Yadav. The seriousness of Reddy’s injury is yet to be known and if it is serious, it could be a big blow for India.

Reddy is also part of the Indian squad for the T20I series against Australia. The Indian team would be hoping that he recovers as quickly as possible as he will be key for India in the upcoming five-match T20I series.
