Travis Head was part of the Australian XI in the first three T20Is against India.
Travis Head, the explosive Australian opener, will miss the remainder of the ongoing T20I series against India. The series stands at 1-1, with the fourth T20I being played between Australia and India on November 6, 2025, at Carrara, Queensland.
Australia have announced that the left-handed hitter would not play in the next two games, which are set to take place at Heritage Bank Stadium in Gold Coast and Gabba in Brisbane, despite the series being on the line.
In white-ball cricket, Head has not performed at his best of late, and the current series against India has not been successful. He only scored 65 runs in three games over the three ODIs. He has only scored 34 runs in two T20Is.
Revealed: Why Travis Head will not play the 4th and 5th T20Is between Australia and India

Travis Head has been released from the Australia squad to play in South Australia’s Sheffield Shield fixture against Tasmania on November 10 in Hobart, according to a statement from Cricket Australia (CA). The decision is made as Australia gets ready for the November 21 start of the Ashes 2025-26 series against England.
The majority of Australia’s test team, which includes Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Steve Smith, will participate in this round of games in the country’s top first-class tournament. Carey will accompany Travis Head since they both represent South Australia.
Travis Head was Australia’s best batter in their last test assignment against the West Indies, scoring 224 runs in three tests, including two half-centuries. With his propensity to impact games with his counterattacking style, Head is a key component of Australia’s test lineup, where he will start at No. 5.
Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh revealed that Matthew Short was promoted to the opening spot in the absence of Travis Head. On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell made his first appearance in the Australia XI in this T20I series. Other changes were Ben Dwarshuis replacing Sean Abbott in the side, and Josh Philippe and Adam Zampa coming in for Mitchell Owen and Matt Kuhnemann.
