Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have started IPL 2026 on a positive note with four wins out of five.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) once again seem to be the team to beat, as they boast match winners throughout their lineup. With their most recent win over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the defending champions prepare to play their first afternoon match of the season.
For RCB, their team is fairly settled with Virat Kohli returning to his best in the previous match, despite concerns over his health and fitness. Phil Salt produced a Man of the Match performance against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede, while captain Rajat Patidar has arguably been the most destructive No. 4 batter of this IPL so far.
Tim David has consistently provided the fireworks lower down the order, while Jitesh Sharma and Romario Shepherd too can prove to be equally dangerous when required. Unlike the past, it is the bowling unit which makes RCB such strong contenders.
Josh Hazlewood reminded everyone of his skills as he bowled an unplayable spell against LSG, and the brilliance of Rasikh Dar Salam and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have easily made this trio one of the best fast bowling contingents of the season.
With a crafty yet effective spinning combination as well, the Delhi Capitals (DC) will have to play out of their skins to cause an upset. DC, who began season with consecutive wins, then suffered back-to-back defeats, to slightly derail their campaign.
Their star opener KL Rahul will be under spotlight in RCB vs DC clash as he will be playing against his former team at a venue he knows well might possibly produce the best in him.
Why are RCB wearing green jersey vs DC?

Shifting from their usual red and gold jersey, RCB take the field against the DC, donning the green jersey. This is an annual initiative to support their annual “Go Green Initiative”.
Running since 2021, this campaign is aimed at promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and green energy. These special kits are made from 100% recycled materials to further extend their support to the cause.
According to the team, RCB stands as the only carbon-neutral T20 franchise globally. Speaking about this campaign, RCB CEO Rajesh Menon said:
“Achieving carbon-neutral status as a T20 franchise is the result of years of dedicated work. The green jerseys reflect this commitment, and we hope this initiative inspires our fans and stakeholders to embrace more responsible and sustainable practices”.
RCB is also known to encourage their fans to play a role in preventing and reducing excessive carbon emissions, by asking them to use public transport to attend matches, with match tickets enabling access to the Bengaluru Metro, and sign up for voluntary fan pledges to reduce dependency on conventional resources.
