Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are squaring off with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 tonight. The encounter was delayed by one-and-a-half hours due to rain.
RCB are aiming for a victory to move closer to a playoffs berth. They currently take the second spot in the points table and a victory against KKR will push them to the peak. On the other hand, KKR need to win at any cost to keep their chances of making it to the top four alive. They are placed at the eighth position in the points table currently.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to field first in the clash. Notably, Shepherd is not part of the encounter. He played in the previous game against Mumbai Indians.
Why did Romario Shepherd miss RCB vs KKR clash of IPL 2026?
Notably, Shepherd has been dropped from the encounter due to his poor form. RCB have inducted Venkatesh Iyer as his replacement. RCB made one more change to their playing XI, replacing Suyash Sharma with Jacob Duffy.
Speaking at the toss, Patidar said, “We will bowl first. I think it’s a similar wicket we played in the last match. It will behave in a similar way. We will try to keep them under pressure. I think the wickets are pretty much same. There will be variable bounce. That was a good game for us, everyone has a lot of confidence. Every game is important, we are focussing more on playing good cricket. Venky comes in for Shepherd”.
Shepherd has failed to impress with his performance so far. He has scored 83 runs in seven innings at a poor strike rate of 125.75, failing to live up to the expectations of finisher. He has remained expensive with the ball, clinching six wickets at an economy of 11.90.
