Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are locking horns in the 66th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 on May 21. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to field first in the clash.
This is a do-or-die clash for CSK as they need to defeat GT to keep their playoffs hopes alive. Moreover, a defeat will lead to their elimination from the tournament. On the other hand, GT have qualified for the playoffs.
Gakiwad informed at the toss that they have made two changes to their playing XI. Akeal Hosein and Prashant Veer were replaced by Gurjapneet Singh and Matt Short.
But, in the second over of the innings, CSK faced a big blow as Sanju Samson walked off the field, and it was Urvi Patel, who kept the wickets.

Notably, Samson injured his finger in the second over of Spencer Johnson. He was hit on his finger as he tried to collect a wide ball. After having a chat with the team physio, he left the field and Urvil Patel was given the wicket-keeping duties.
If Samson is unable to bat in the second innings, it will be a big blow for CSK. He has been the most successful batter for the side with 477 runs in 13 games. Samson has also slammed two centuries and one half-century in the tournament.
Speaking about the match, CSK bowlers largely failed to dominate GT batters in the first innings. Openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan slammed half-centuries and built an opening stand of 125 runs, providing a superb start to batting.
