Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are clashing in the 57th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on May 13. The venue of the encounter is the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.
While RCB defeated Mumbai Indians in their previous game, KKR outplayed Delhi Capitals. Moreover, they have won their last four games in a row. While RCB take the second spot in the points table, KKR are placed at the eighth spot.
The encounter was delayed by more than an hour due to rain. The toss took place at 8:30 PM instead of 7 PM. RCB won the toss and opted to field first. They made two changes to their playing XI, replacing Romario Shepherd and Suyash Sharma with Venkatesh Iyer and Jacob Duffy, respectively.
On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane informed that their star pacer Varun Chakravarthy is missing the encounter. He played in the previous game against Delhi Capitals.
Why did Varun Chakravarthy miss RCB vs KKR clash of IPL 2026?
Notably, Chakravathy is missing the game due to a niggle. Saurabh Dubey, who is making his debut, has been picked as his replacement.
“I thought we’ve been bowling really well as a bowling unit. But, you know, winning those small moments in this format is really important. Every single game is really important. Varun Chakravarthy misses out, unfortunately, with a niggle injury. Saurabh Dubey comes in place of him,” Rahane said at the toss.
Chakravarthy struggled in the initial games but gained his form later. In eight matches, he has clinched 10 wickets at an economy of 8.62, including two three-wicket hauls.
