After being snubbed for England ODIs, West Indies veteran Darren Bravo makes massive announcement

Darren Bravo has scored over 3000 runs in Tests and ODIs for West Indies.
Darren Bravo turned to social media to announce that he was taking a break from West Indian cricket after being snubbed by the selectors for the One Day International series against England due to his age.
Notably, despite being the greatest run-scorer in the Super50 and a significant batsman in regional events in recent years, Bravo was not selected for the ODI series. Bravo has been one of the most prolific run scorers in Caribbean cricket over the last four years, averaging 96.2, 65.0, 48, and 83.2 runs per innings while also leading the Red Force to victory in the recently concluded CG United Super50 Cup Tournament.
Despite the performances, the batter missed the bus to the England series as the selection panel wanted to give an opportunity to the younger players, with an eye on the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
The 34-year-old WI batter won the Golden Bat after scoring 416 runs with a best of 139 not out and a table-topping average of 83.2, which was greater than any other batsman selected for the WI’s ODI series against England.
I’ve been left in a very dark place: Darren Bravo says in his announcement
Darren Bravo has played 200 international games for the West Indies throughout his 14-year international career. He has 3538 Test runs at 36.47 average and eight hundreds. In one-day internationals, he has 3109 runs at an average of over 30, with four centuries.
Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo’s elder brother, turned to Instagram to voice his disappointment, claiming that the lack of communication from the selectors had left him in a “very dark place.”
“I’ve taken some time to ponder and wonder what’s my next step moving forward as a cricketer. At this point in my career it’s not easy or should I say it takes a lot to continue to find the energy, passion, commitment, and discipline to be able to perform to the best of my ability and put myself in a position to make my return to international cricket. Without any level of communication I’ve been left in a very dark place,” Bravo wrote in his statement on Instagram.
Darren Bravo stated that if he was unable to secure a spot on any of the three teams representing the region across numerous forms, it was evident that his time had come to an end. He underlined, however, that he was not abandoning up, but rather stepping back to allow place for new talent.
“At the moment there’s three teams representing the region in multiple formats/series. That’s approximately 40-45 players and if I can’t be in any of these teams after competing in our regional tournaments and scoring runs, therefore they are basically telling me that the writing is on the wall. I’m not giving up but I believe it’s best to step away just for a bit and maybe make some room for a young and upcoming talent. I will end by wishing each and every one all the very best. “I’ve lived my dream,” Bravo added.
