The WI vs AUS test series between Australia and the West Indies begins on June 25.
The Australian Cricket Team and the West Indies Cricket Team will enter into the new ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2025-27) cycle with a three-test series that begins on June 25 with the first match. The first test will be played at Bridgetown in Barbados.
Australia are coming off a decisive ICC WTC 2023-25 final loss to South Africa, while the West Indies will be entering a new era with Roston Chase as the captain, after Kraigg Brathwaite stepped down after the last ICC WTC cycle.
Australia have already stated that Steve Smith, their star batsman, will miss the first test due to a finger injury, and Marnus Labuschagne will not be playing. Josh Inglis and teenage opener Sam Konstas have both been added to the XI against the West Indies for the first test in Barbados.
Chase took over captaincy from Kraigg Brathwaite, who resigned in March, but hasn’t participated in a test match in over two years.
WI vs AUS test series will be Daren Sammy’s first match as head coach after assuming responsibility of all three formats. Left-handed middle-order batsman Alick Athanaze was also left out. John Campbell, an opener who hasn’t played in three years, is back to add to his 20 tests. Brandon King has also merited his first call-up.
