With the series opener ending in a draw, all focus will now shift to the second test match. Both sides will try to win the match and the series as it will boost their position in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table.

Currently, West Indies are at the bottom, whereas South Africa are placed seventh in the WTC standings.
