There are rumors of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 being shifted out of Pakistan due to India’s reluctance to travel to the country.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has said that he is confident that the ICC Champion Trophy 2025 will be successfully hosted in Pakistan. His statement comes amidst ongoing speculations that the tournament might be moved out of the country.

Despite endless rumors about India’s reluctance in playing the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the PCB president stated that the board is not even considering the notion of moving the tournament outside of his nation next year.

His remarks came after an ICC board member recently told PTI that the ICC will not force India in disobeying any laws that forbid travel to Pakistan. Naqvi went on to say that as the event drew nearer, the PCB is prepared to handle any situation that might come up.

During a press conference on Monday night during the Pakistan Super League final, Naqvi confirmed that he spoke with BCCI secretary Jay Shah on the sidelines of the ICC meetings in Dubai last week. He also shrugged off the possibility of the Champions Trophy being moved out of Pakistan due to India’s refusal to travel to the country.

Yes we spoke for a while and it was cordial but it would be unwise to divulge details of what was discussed. I am not even thinking on those lines we are confident we will host the Champions Trophy on schedule in Pakistan,” Naqvi was quoted as saying by PTI.

India have not played bilateral cricket with Pakistan since the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, in which over 150 people were killed.

Stadiums in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi will be renovated for ICC Champions Trophy: Mohsin Naqvi

In order to keep Pakistan host of the Champions Trophy in 2025, the PCB president stated that the board is prepared to face any challenge. He further disclosed that in advance of the major event, renovations will be made to the stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.

“Even as I speak plans have been drawn up and work will begin soon on these three stadiums to give the fans the best experience of watching the matches at the venues,” added Naqvi.

The last time an Indian cricket team traveled to Pakistan was during the Asia Cup in June-July 2008.
