Dhoni has resumed wicketkeeping drills and batting in the nets, showing no visible signs of discomfort during recent practice sessions. His presence with the squad during matches in Hyderabad and Mumbai had already indicated progress in his recovery.
Despite being match-fit, Dhoni is unlikely to return immediately to the playing XI. The decision is understood to be a tactical one, with the veteran cricketer cautious about disturbing a team combination that has started to deliver results.
CSK’s improvement has been evident in recent matches, including a dominant 103-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium. The performance reflected a better balance within the side, with contributions coming from multiple players.
The five-time champions are placed fifth on the points table with six points from seven matches. With seven matches still remaining in the league stage, the team remains firmly in contention for a playoff spot.
