Riyan Parag caught vaping inside the dressing room.

Riyan Parag, who is leading the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League 2026, has flopped with the bat so far. At a poor average of 14.63, Parag has scored just 117 runs across nine innings.

While he is known for his aggressive batting style and has also hit six consecutive sixes across different overs in the IPL, he has struggled with poor form this season.

Despite Parag’s batting woes, the Rajasthan Royals have been commendable in the tournament. Winning four games in a row at the start, they were the table-toppers in the initial stage. They are still in the upper half of the points table, having won six and lost three of their nine matches.

In the previous match, the IPL 2008 champions ended the Punjab Kings’ winning streak in IPL 2026. The Shreyas Iyer & Co. were unbeaten in their first seven games but lost to the Royals on April 28 by six wickets at MYS International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

During the match, the RR skipper was caught in a major controversy. He was seen vaping inside the dressing room.

His act was captured in the live broadcast, where he was seen vaping in the presence of teammates Yashasvi Jaiswal, Yudhvir Singh Charak, and Kuldeep Sen. The visuals have gone viral on social media, attracting widespread attention and criticism.

According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) guidelines, smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited within IPL stadium premises, except in designated zones. Hence, BCCI can take strict action against Riyan for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.

Moreover, vaping is also banned under Indian law, and Riyan Parag could face legal trouble. India banned vapes under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA), 2019. The law prohibits the manufacture, import, sale and storage of E-cigarettes regardless of nicotine content.

Personal possession and vaping in public is also banned in India. Violations can attract fines of up to Rs 5 lakh ($6,000) and jail terms.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals (RR) team manager Romi Bhinder was fined Rs 1 lakh and handed an official warning for using a mobile phone inside the dugout. The incident occurred during RR’s clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Guwahati on April 10.
