Shreyanka Patil's five-wicket haul helps India women to victory

Featuring several stars from their successful U-19 World Cup campaign, the India team displayed their dominance right from the start by choosing to field after captain Shweta Sehrawat won the toss.

While Mariko Hill stood out among the Hong Kong batters, scoring 14 runs off 19 balls with 2 fours, the rest of their batting lineup struggled. The showstopper for India was Shreyanka Patil, who delivered an outstanding performance of 5 wickets for just 2 runs in 3 overs. In the 11th over, the Karnataka bowler came close to achieving a hat-trick when she dismissed Mariko and Maryam Bibi in consecutive deliveries. Parshavi Chopra also made valuable contributions by taking two wickets, and the Hong Kong innings concluded with the dismissal of Iqra Sahar, who Chetry stumped off Chopra's bowling.

Unfortunately, the Indian captain fell victim to a good catch by Kary Chan off Betty Chan's bowling, scoring only 2 runs. Nonetheless, Chetry (16*) and Trisha Gongadi (19*) concluded the chase with style, smashing a six off Ruchitha Venkatesh's delivery to secure a comfortable nine-wicket victory.

Next, India 'A' will face Nepal on June 15 on the same ground.
