I and Yuzvendra Chahal work with each other, don't think about competition: Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav was adjudged "Man of the match" for his brilliant bowling spell against West Indies in the first ODI.

Spinners made life tougher for the batters at Kensington Oval in Barbados. In a small run chase of 115, India lost 5 wickets against West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie and Yannic Cariah. For India Kuldeep Yadav wreaked havoc against the West Indies batting lineup and picked up 4 wickets in just 3 overs, conceding only 6 runs. Two of them came as a maiden overs for Kuldeep Yadav.

Kuldeep rattled the West Indies tailenders and didn’t let them stay at the wicket for long. Shai Hope also went back while attempting a sweep against Kuldeep Yadav. Kuldeep's wicket line troubled the batters. He was also getting a great amount of assistance from the wicket. 

Kuldeep Yadav won the Player of the Match

Kuldeep Yadav was also awarded Player of the Match for his bowling spell. Talking about his performance Kuldeep Yadav said, “Perfect, Starting with Mukesh making his debut, Shardul, and Hardik got wickets too…Me and Jadeja, we were great, we were following the routine and rhythm and it’s been amazing in the last one year”.

Kuldeep also revealed the strategy he used to rattle the West Indies, he said, “For everyone focusing on the length is more important than getting wickets. People said it’s a seaming paradise and I was happy to see that spinners got seven wickets”. 

There’s severe competition for the role of spinners in the Indian team. Along with Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, and Ravi Bishnoi are the other options available for India. Talking about the competition Kuldeep said, “It’s always good to have competition but me and Chahal don’t think about the competition and just work with each other. When you have seniors like Chahal to help you it gives you a lot of confidence. We have been playing together for five or six years so he has really helped. There’s no competition, we just give each other great company”.
