WPL 2024: Captains of all five teams

Women’s Premier League WPL 2024 will be played from 23rd February to 17th March.
The second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is not far away. WPL 2024 is set to begin on 23rd February. The inaugural season’s finalists will take on each other in the curtain-raiser of the tournament. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on runners-up Delhi Capitals in the first game of the second season at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
WPL Season 2 will be played in two different cities. Bengaluru and Delhi have been chosen as the venues for WPL 2024. The tournament’s first half will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and the latter half will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. All five teams have announced the captains of their respective sides. 1. Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Star Indian opening batter Smriti Mandhana will lead Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Women’s Premier League. Smriti Mandhana also led RCB in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League in 2023.
RCB finished fourth in the table of five teams. Royals Challengers could only win two out of their eight league games.
2. Harmanpreet Kaur (Mumbai Indians)

Indian women’s team captain and all-rounder Harmanpreet Kaur is the captain of the defending champions of the WPL. Mumbai Indians won the inaugural title under Harmanpreet’s leadership.
Mumbai Indians have placed their bet on Harmanpreet Kaur once again and she will lead the MI franchise in the upcoming season as well. Mumbai Indians will look to defend their title.
3. Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals)

Delhi Capitals suffered a 7-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians in the final of the first WPL season. Meg Lanning led Delhi Capitals to the finals of the Women’s Premier League.
Meg Lanning will be leading Delhi Capitals once against in the upcoming WPL 2024 season. Delhi Capitals lost three games out of the nine they played in the inaugural competition.
4. Beth Mooney (Gujarat Giants)

Gujarat Giants announced Beth Mooney as their captain for the Women’s Premier League 2024. Australian wicket-keeper Beth Mooney will continue to lead Gujarat Giants.
The team didn’t have a great campaign in the inaugural season of the WPL and finished bottom of the table. Gujarat won only two league games out of eight in the competition.
5. Alyssa Healy (UP Warriorz)

UP Warriorz also retained their skipper Alyssa Healy for the upcoming season of the Women’s Premier League. UP Warriorz had a decent WPL campaign in 2023 and qualified for the playoffs.
UP Warriorz won four out of their eight league games and finished third in the table. Alyssa Healy will look to lead UP Warriorz close to a title win in 2024.
