WPL 2025 auction: Full list of 120 players shortlisted

WPL 2025 auction is scheduled to take place on December 15.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) has quickly established itself as a premier franchise platform for women’s cricketers around the world. The league helps emerging domestic Indian players by giving them exposure against top international talents.

Ahead of the next season in 2025, the tournament will see a mini auction on December 15, 2024. A total of 120 players have been shortlisted for the WPL 2025 auction that is set to be held in Bengaluru.

Out of the total 120 registered players in the WPL 2025 auction, 91 are Indians and the rest are overseas which includes three from associate nations. With just 19 slots available across the five teams and maximum of five spots for the overseas players, the franchises will aim to strategically build their squads for the upcoming WPL season.

Mumbai Indians won the first edition of the WPL in 2023 and Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the WPL 2024. Earlier this month, all five teams announced their list of retained and released players ahead of the WPL 2025 auction.

Several WPL franchises made bold moves by releasing high-profile players. Notable names among those let go were Sneh Rana, Poonam Yadav, Lea Tahuhu, Heather Knight and Issy Wong.

While the dates for the next cycle of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been announced already, the BCCI is yet to confirm the dates for the 2025 edition of the WPL which is expected to start in February.

Gujarat Giants, who released Sneh Rana, will enter the WPL auction with the highest purse of INR 4.4 crores whereas Delhi Capitals, runners-up in both the WPL editions so far, will have the smallest purse of INR 2.5 crores.
