The much-awaited announcement has been made, and all five franchises have revealed the list of released and retained players ahead of the Womenâs Premier League (WPL) 2026 mega auction. Delhi Capitals (DC) are one of the two teams who retained five players as they will be eyeing their maiden title next year.
Despite making three consecutive final appearances under the captaincy of Meg Lanning, they are yet to get their hands on the trophy. So, there will be a lot of expectations from the team going ahead into the fourth edition. The franchise has retained the core group and is ready to get into the next edition with some new faces and a new captain.

After making it to the finals of the first two editions, DC entered WPL 2025 as top contenders. That is what they did during the league stage, finishing at the top with five wins out of eight games and making a direct entry to the final, which was against Mumbai Indians.
They had a good bowling display in the final, restricting MI to 149. But they had a tough start with the bat, and they kept losing wickets. They fell short by eight runs, losing their third consecutive final. Shefali Verma was the top scorer with 304 runs, while Jess Jonaseen was the leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets.
