WPL 2026 will be the fourth edition of the tournament.
The fourth edition of Women’s Premier League (WPL) is likely to be played earlier than its usual window. As per a report in Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to commence WPL 2026 on January 6 or 8, 2026.
Since the tournament comprises only 22 matches, it will conclude in the first week of February. The first edition of the tournament, which was played in 2023, took place in March, while the last two seasons were played in the February-March window.
The venues for WPL 2026 are yet to be decided by the BCCI, but the questions are there whether the league will be played across multiple venues or not. The first edition took place only in Mumbai, while the last two seasons were played at multiple venues. WPL 2025 saw matches being conducted across four venues in Baroda, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Mumbai.
Moreover, the BCCI might also conduct a mega auction ahead of WPL 2026, similar to the Indian Premier League (IPL), since the tournament has observed three editions. However, they are yet to take a final call on the matter.
