WPL 2026 dates leaked! Tournament to begin on January 7 - Reports

WPL 2026 auction will take place on November 27 in New Delhi.
In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 is all set to begin on January 7. The tournament will be played in Navi Mumbai and Baroda with the final set to be played on February 3.
The reports claimed that the first leg of the WPL 2026 will be played at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. The second leg is all set to take place at the Kotambi Stadium in Baroda, which might begin around January 16, as the Men’s India vs New Zealand ODI is scheduled in the city on January 11.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to inform about the venues to franchises but venues are being discussed at an informal level. The reports claimed that the teams will be informed about the venues during the WPL auction, which will take place in New Delhi on November 27.
January is designated window for the WPL

Although the dates are yet to be finalised, the WPL 2026 will take place in January for sure. The reasons behind that will be the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka in the first week of February. Also, January is the designated window for the WPL across cricketing nations.
The focus will first be on the WPL 2026 auction, which will be a mega event. All the franchises recently unveiled their list of retained and released players. The auction is expected to be a blockbuster event as some of the big names are all set to go under the hammer.
The Mumbai Indians are the defending champions of the WPL and are also the most successful franchise in the tournament with two titles. On both occasions, they beat the Delhi Capitals in the final. Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the second edition.
