Yash Dayal picked 15 wickets in the IPL 2024 while playing for RCB.

Left-arm seamer Yash Dayal has revealed a crucial chat with former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Virat Kohli during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 that gave him a huge boost after the horrific memories of his IPL 2023 season.

Last year, while playing for the Gujarat Titans, Dayal, when tasked to defend 29 runs in the last over of a league-stage game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), was blasted for five sixes in a row by Rinku Singh at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Gujarat dropped him from the side and then released him from the squad ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, where RCB signed the left-arm seamer for INR 5 crore.

Virat Kohli said that he will back me the whole season: Yash Dayal

Recently, Dayal revealed that senior RCB batsman and former skipper Kohli had assured him that he would get his backing for the whole IPL 2024 edition.

“The biggest thing he (Kohli) said to me was that he will back me the whole season. He told me that I will not feel like I have come to a new place, and he backed me completely. So this was a huge boost up and he talks to the youngsters in such a very healthy way and he is nothing like what people talk about on TV. I don’t feel like that,” Dayal told Sports Tak.

Dayal played a crucial role in RCB’s match to the playoffs. The left-arm pacer took 15 wickets in 14 matches at an economy of 9.14. He was also the joint-highest wicket-taker of his side.

He will next be in action in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024/25.
