Yashasvi Jaiswal scored second test hundred of his career in the second IND vs ENG test.
After missing out on a century in the first test of India’s five-match series against England, Yashasvi Jaiswal made amends in the second test in Vishakhapatnam. The opening batsman struck a superb century to spearhead India’s attack with the bat.
The left-handed batter had struck a blistering fifty in the first test, taking just 47 balls to do so and appeared to be on his way to his second test century. He failed to convert his half-century into a century as Joe Root dismissed him for 80 runs. In the second innings, he was removed when he was batting on 15 runs by Tom Hartley and India lost the game by 28 runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal too got a start in the ongoing second test and made the most of his opportunity. Unlike in the first test, the youngster did not play aggressively before shifting gears.
Yashasvi Jaiswal hammers brilliant second test century, blows kisses to crowd in celebration
Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 14 runs by debutant Shoaib Bashir, while Shubman Gill scored 34 runs in 48 balls before succumbing to James Anderson. Tom Hartley broke the partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer (27).
Jaiswal had added 40 runs for the first wicket with Rohit Sharma, 49 runs with Shubman Gill and a big partnership of 90 runs with Shreyas Iyer. However, all of these three batters got in and then gave away their wickets away.
But Jaiswal kept grinding it out and his knock was vastly different from what he had played in the first innings of the first test in Hyderabad. He reached his 50 in 89 balls and reached his century in 151 balls making his second in tests.
Yashasvi Jaiswal led India’s drive with the bat, scoring a century in the second session. The Mumbai player celebrated his first test century on home turf by hitting Tom Hartley for a six. He put the ball over the long-on boundary. He then took off his helmet and blew kisses to the crowd to celebrate a brilliant century.
