Yashasvi Jaiswal will get the preference over Ruturaj Gaikwad in the first test vs West Indies.

The 21-year-old prodigy from Mumbai is in line to become India’s test cricketer. Yashasvi Jaiswal after a little time in the reserves in the World Test Championship Final squad, has found a place in India’s 16-member main squad for the upcoming West Indies tour. India will be touring the Caribbean islands for 2 tests, 3-ODIs, and 5 T20s series in July. Yashasvi Jaiswal has now revealed that his father started crying when he got to know about Jaiswal’s selection in the Indian test squad. Jaiswal has a great First-class record to back his selection. He has played 15 first-class games and scored 1845 runs with 9 centuries and 2 half-centuries.

'My father started crying

A young opener while talking to a New agency PTI has also revealed he was nervous and excited when the talks about him being picked as an opener were doing the rounds. Jaiswal said, “My father started crying, I have not yet met my mother. I am going to see her sometimes. I was out from the morning, had a practice session as well as some other work”. Jaiswal revealed that he was nervous and added, “I was a little nervous, till the time you do not get to know that your name is there in the team, there are butterflies, but it is a good feeling”.

Team management will probably allow him to open the innings along with Captain Rohit Sharma, moving Shubman Gill down at Number 3. Jaiswal due to his First-class record and being a leftie will be picked over Ruturaj Gaikwad in the first test at Windsor Park in Dominica. Talking about the preparation He said, “My preparations have been going well and I got to interact a lot with senior players. The conversation has been very simple and it is to focus on my work. I learned from them, it’s all about you at the end, how you take it going forward”.
