Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed 559 runs in IPL 2025.

Indian Cricket Team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has opened up about his snub from the Asia Cup 2025 squad. He admitted that these things are not in his control and all he does is focuses on his preparations.

When the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2025 was announced, a lot of eyebrows were raised in terms of team selection. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has a great record in T20Is and had a brilliant Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 wasn’t named in the final 15-member team.

This came as a massive shock for many as he is seen as the all-format player for India. However, Shubman Gill got preference ahead of him and the young opener was named in the standbys. Notably before Asia Cup 2025, Gill last played a T20I in 2024.

While talking about his snub from Asia Cup 2025, Yashasvi Jaiswal was honest enough to admit that due to the team combination, he missed out. However, he was quick to quip that he is confident that his time will come. Speaking to Mashable India, he said:

“It’s all in the selectors’ hands. They look at it from a team combination point of view. I’ll keep doing my thing and I know my time will come. Till then, I’ll keep working on myself, developing myself,” Jaiswal said.

Jaiswal’s record in T20Is speaks for itself as he has slammed 723 runs in 23 matches at an impressive strike rate of 164.31 and an average of 36.15, including five half-centuries and a century. In the recent IPL, he was the leading run-getter for Rajasthan Royals (RR), hitting 559 runs in 14 games.

In Jaiswal’s absence, Shubman Gill has failed to make an impact with the bat in the Asia Cup 2025. The vice-captain of the side has failed in the last two games and now would be keen to turn things around in the Super Four stage.
