Yashasvi Jaiswal has smashed 11 fifty scores with 9 centuries in his 26 red-ball innings.

Mumbai’s young sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has found his place in India’s test squad after his stellar performance in the IPL 2023 and Domestic cricket. Yashasvi Jaiswal is also in line to make his test debut for Team India. India will be opening their World Test Championship 2023-25 campaign with a Two match test series against West Indies. With 4 openers in the squad, and Cheteshwar Pujara being dropped, Yashasvi Jaiswal is set to earn his maiden call-up and open the innings alongside captain Rohit Sharma. Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has urged young Yashasvi to play with freedom. Jaiswal had a great IPL 2023 season with Rajasthan Royals.

Rahane suggests Jaiswal to bat with freedom

Ajinkya Rahane said, “Firstly I am happy for him, he’s a really exciting talent. He did well in domestic cricket for Mumbai. Did well in the IPL as well. Most importantly, the way he’s batting in red-ball cricket. He did well in the Duleep Trophy last year too and my message to him will be just to express his batting, not to think too much about international cricket and all”. Rahane didn’t reveal about Jaiswal’s place in the batting order. Shubman Gill might be shifted to number 3 replacing Cheteshwar Pujara and alongside captain Rohit Sharma, young Yashasvi Jaiswal might open the innings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has played 15 first-class games in domestic cricket. In 26 red-ball innings, he has smashed 1845 runs at an outstanding average of  80.21 with 9 centuries and 2 half-centuries. Jaiswal scored 625 runs in 14 innings for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2023. The first test between India and West Indies will begin on 12th July at Windsor Park in Dominica. The second test will be held at Queens Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago. Jaiswal’s entry will also mark the shift of the Indian team entering the transition phase.
