Yashasvi Jaiswal is just one run away from breaking Virat Kohli’s record of most runs in a bilateral series against England.

Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has taken the cricket world by storm, surging into the top 10 for the first time in the latest ICC test batting rankings. This impressive rise comes after a phenomenal run of form in the ongoing test series against England.

The young prospect is having a phenomenal run in the ongoing five-match test series against England. So far, the youngster has smashed 655 runs in four games. His two double centuries, including equaling Virat Kohli’s record for most runs in a bilateral test series against England have been instrumental in his meteoric rise.

This two-spot jump places him at 10th position in the latest test rankings. Jaiswal is now the second-highest ranked Indian batter, just behind veteran player Virat Kohli. Despite missing the series due to personal reasons, Kohli maintains his position as the top-ranked Indian batter in eighth position.

Other Indian batters have also seen movement in the rankings. Captain Rohit Sharma has moved up two spots to No. 11, while Shubman Gill’s consistent contributions in the ongoing five-match test series have helped him retain his spot. Gill is currently in 31st position.

New Zealand batter Kane Williamson currently enjoys the top spot with 870 points, followed by veteran England batter Joe Root (799 points) and Australian player Steve Smith (789 points).
