After five failed attempts, England finally broke their losing trend against European nations.
In a nervy run-chase, England managed to overcome Scotland in T20 World Cup 2026, chasing down the target in 18.2 overs with five wickets in hand. Opting to field first, the Scotland batters lost their main batters early, with Jofra Archer finding form with the ball.
However, a good partnership between Richie Berrington and Tom Bruce threatened to take the game away from the 2022 champions, before Liam Dawson got the better of Bruce, to trigger a collapse. Scotland got bowled out for 152, without batting their full quota of overs.
England lost their openers early in reply, but Tom Banton finally repaid the management’s trust with an unbeaten 63 off 41 balls, to help England jump to the second spot on the points table, and boost their hopes of reaching the super eight.
