Zak Crawley scored a half-century in first innings of The Oval test against India

England opener Zak Crawley continued with his good form with the bat in the ongoing fifth test against India at The Oval, London. The opening batter scored a half-century in the first innings, taking his team off to a great start.

Zak Crawley etched an opening stand of 92 runs with Ben Duckett for the first wicket. He eventually lost his wicket for 64 runs off 47 balls, becoming a victim of Prasidh Krishna. With his knock, he achieved an incredible milestone in ICC World Test Championship (WTC) history.

Crawly became the third England player to reach the mark of 3000 runs in ICC WTC. He has mustered 3027 runs in 94 innings across 52 tests. At an average of 32.54, the England opener has slammed four centuries and 18 half-centuries in the tournament’s history. The other two England players to cross 3000 runs are Joe Root and Ben Stokes.

Notably, Root is the leading run-scorer for England in the ICC WTC with 5975 runs in 69 games. Ben Stokes is next on the list with 3616 runs in 57 matches.

Talking about The Oval test, India were bowled out for 224 runs in the first innings with a fifty by Karun Nair (57). Gus Atkinson hunted a five-wicket haul for England and Josh Tongue clinched three wickets.
