England opener Zak Crawley set to send his name for IPL 2024 auction

Zak Crawley had a wonderful Ashes 2023 series against Australia and scored 480 runs in 9 innings.
England’s red-ball opener, Zak Crawley, is now eyeing an opportunity in white-ball cricket. Crawley had a wonderful Ashes 2023 series against Australia. Crawley, with a set target of resuming his white-ball career, has decided to put his name on the auction table in the next IPL 2024 auction. Crawley claimed that, IPL is the biggest franchise tournament. The next IPL auction might happen later in the year, in 2023. He hasn’t earned a call-up from England’s white-ball squad after 2021, and Crawley hasn’t played any T20Is in his career.

England’s opener looked hopeful about the opportunity to participate in the biggest T20 league in the world. Zak Crawley said, “It’s the biggest franchise tournament in the world. It’s the only place to see all the best play against each other. It’s great cricket, and to be able to test yourself in that tournament would be awesome.” Crawley also talked about Harry Brook, who got the opportunity to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2023. He said, “He’s going to do a lot of stuff that I wish I could do in my career.”
Recently, Alex Hales announced his retirement from international cricket, leaving an opportunity for others in England’s opening slot. Zak Crawley expressed that there are a few ahead of him in that race and said, “There’s obviously a few guys ahead of me at the moment. But If I score some runs, then hopefully my name starts getting thrown into the hat.” Hales’ absence has opened the door for many players in the English squad, and there will be a race among the county players to secure the spot along with Jason Roy.
Opener Zak Crawley has played only three ODIs for England while representing them 39 times in the white jersey. Crawley had a wonderful Ashes 2023 series for England and smashed 480 at a magnificent average of 53.33 in five tests. He played a blistering knock of 189 runs at Old Trafford in Manchester. So far, Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, Moeen Ali, Joe Root, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer, Jason Roy, and Mark Wood have been a part of the Indian Premier League playing for different teams.
