Kevin Davies, 62, was on a trip with his family and friends for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

A Wales football fan has died while following his country at FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Kevin Davies, who had made the trip to Qatar with his family and friends for the World Cup, died on Friday. Kevin was in Doha when he breathed his last. He died a natural death and was not present inside the Ahmad bin Ali stadium in Al Rayyan where Wales lost to Iran.

Wales squared up against Iran in their second Group B fixture at the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar. Things didn’t go according to plan for the Gareth Bale-led side as an 86th-minute red card to Wayne Hennessey was followed by two injury-time goals by Iran. A high-spirited performance by the Asian side ensured their victory on the day.

Wales FA offers condolences to late Kevin Davies' family and friends

The incident involving Kevin took place on Friday. The Football Association of Wales offered their condolences to the fan's family and friends via social media, their tweet read:

"Mae CBDC yn cydymdeimlo efo teulu a ffrindiau Kevin Davies. Our deepest condolences from everyone at the Football Association of Wales. Our thoughts are with Kevin’s family and friends at this sad time. The FAW is in contact with Kevin’s family to help in whatever way we can.”

FA Wales have been in contact with Kevin’s family and they promised to help them in every way possible. It is a great gesture from the governing body of association football and futsal in Wales.

The Welsh fan embassy also came forward and passed on their condolences to his friends and family. “Unfortunately we have lost one of the Red wall yesterday in Qatar, our sincere condolences go out to his son here in Doha and his family back in Wales..May he rest in peace.”

Currently, UK consular is providing assistance to Davies’s family along with support from the Football Supporters' Association Cymru. The tragic incident that took place off the field has come as a shock to the footballing world. Moreover, what happened on the pitch hasn’t helped either.

After Wales drew their opening fixture 1-1 against the USA at the FIFA World Cup 2022, their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Iran might mean curtains to their World Cup Campaign. The only way to revive hopes is to win their last match against group favorites England. Wales go up against England in their final group fixture on 29th November.
