The FIFA World Cup 2022 is finally about to start after a long four-year wait. It is by far the most popular tournament in football, one that attracts huge viewership across the globe.

The competition is going to be fierce. As the tournament is taking place in winter, the players are in peak condition. It will be the job of the respective national team managers to get the best out of their squads. They will be the brains working from the sidelines, hoping to guide their team to the ultimate glory.

There are many high-profile managers leading their teams at the World Cup. They will bring interesting tactics to the table that will definitely make the matches exciting. Here is a look at the top five managers that will be present in Qatar:

Fernando Santos - Portugal

Fernando Santos has been in the manager’s position since 2014. He won two major international trophies with Portugal. One cannot forget his iconic celebrations after winning the 2016 UEFA Euro along with Cristiano Ronaldo and the rest of the squad. The tactician won the UEFA Nations League with the national team later.

He has overseen 103 games with the Portugal national team and will be one of the experienced managers at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Fernando Santos will aim to finally deliver the World Cup when the tournament begins in Qatar. Players like Bruno Fernandes, Joao Felix and more will his job easier.

Hans-Dieter Flick - Germany

“Hansi” Flick will be Germany’s manager at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. This will be his first major international tournament with the national team (apart from Nations League). It will be interesting to see how the former FC Bayern Munich manager leads the team.

The 57-year-old was Germany’s assistant manager under Joachin Loew when the national team won the World Cup in 2014. He has won 10 games out of the first 16 games leading Die Mannschaft.

Luis Enrique - Spain

Luis Enrique is also one of the experienced managers at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He was the manager of FC Barcelona before taking up the job of managing the Spanish national team. In 33 games as the manager of La Furia Roja, Enrique has won 18, drawn 10 and lost only five matches.

The 53-year-old has a young squad at his disposal and an objective to take Spain to the top of world football once again. In terms of personal achievements, he is still searching for a first major international trophy with the national team and the World Cup could be the perfect one to win.

Didier Deschamps - France

Didier Deschamps won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with France. He has a huge task ahead of him. For once, it would be to safely guide Les Bleus past the group stage and avoid the curse of the champions. He has won an incredible 84 out of 132 matches with France heading into the World Cup.

He will be under immense pressure to help France retain the World Cup title, a feat that has not been repeated since 1962 when Brazil defended their 1958 win. Having said that, the 2020-21 Nations League winner has the experience and the tactical prowess to face the upcoming challenges.

Lionel Scaloni - Argentina

A lot of eyes are on Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, mostly because it is likely to be Lionel Messi’s last edition. The South American nation is a huge favourite to win the trophy. The responsibility to guide the team to the title will be on Lionel Scaloni’s shoulders. He has been at the helm since 2018, overseeing 34 wins from his first 50 games as manager.

Most importantly, Scaloni led the Argentina national team to the 2020-21 Copa America win. It was the country’s first major trophy in 28 years. Now, the tactician has his eyes set on winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
