Turning 30 is a daunting prospect for any professional footballer. It's the age top-level professionals begin to question what life might have in store after they hang up their boots. But, for others, 30 is merely the start of a new chapter. Despite new players emerging on the scene, some of the most experienced campaigners, especially goalscorers, continue to be key players. 

Here's a look at players who scored the most goals after turning 30.

5. Robert Lewandowski - 123

Robert Lewandowski has been one of the most underrated players of all time. His brilliant performances in his 30s was something that brought him the title of one of the greatest goalscorers in history. The Polish international scored 41 times to break the late Gerd Muller's five-decade-old record for most goals (40) in a Bundesliga season. Now with his new team Barcelona, he has scored 13 goals and is currently the player with the highest number of goals in La Liga.

The Argentine legend is in fine form right now and has completely adapted to his new team Paris Saint-Germain. Messi has always been a certain goalscorer. During his illustrious career with club and country spanning nearly two decades, the diminutive Argentinian has scored goals, bagged assists and won titles and accolades galore. After turning 30, he has scored 138 league goals and 79 assists.

3. Antonio de Natale - 148

The diminutive Italian also won the Capocannoniere – Series A's golden boot – twice after the age of 33 and was also crowned Italian Football of the Year in 2010 at Udinese, three years after his 30th. During his time with Udinese, Di Natale's skill, leadership and ability to both score and create played a key role in helping the club to third and fourth-place finishes in Serie A and qualify for the Champions League. Di Natale's consistent goalscoring with Udinese saw him reach double figures for nine consecutive league seasons.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo - 186

Cristiano Ronaldo has been unstoppable since turning 30 and there is no doubt is he one of the greatest players in football history. In his nearly two-decade-long career for club and country, the 37-year-old has amassed over 800 goals. Cristiano Ronaldo may be enduring a frustrating season with Manchester United, but he still ranks among the world’s best goalscorers.

1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic - 215

The Lion, Zlatan, will be very happy to see his name at the top as he is one of the most prolific goalscorers of all time. The Sweden international has won league titles in four different countries - Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France. He played a crucial role and helped AC Milan to the Scudetto after a long gap. Zlatan hasn't been playing regularly this season due to an injury, but he still has a lot left in him.
