Ivory Coast winger Leonce Dodoz is set to pen a contract with I-League side Rajasthan United, which will run till the end of the current season, Khel Now can confirm. The 30-year-old previously featured in Ivory Coast MTN Ligue 1 side ES Bafing prior to his move to India. The player has rich experience on Indian soil, playing for Mohammedan SC, Aizawl FC, BSS Sporting, etc.
“Leonce Dodoz will pen a contract with Rajasthan United FC and his deal will be sealed as soon as the medicals are done and approved,” a source close to the development has informed Khel Now. If the criteria are met, he’ll feature for the Rajasthani club in the ongoing I-League 2022-23 campaign.
Dodoz was born on June 28, 1992, in Ivory Coast, a country in West Africa. He learned the basics of the game from the youth team of Jeunesse Club Abidjan where he perfected his game as a winger.
Dodoz signed his first professional contract with ASEC Mimosas in 2009. ASEC Mimosas currently stands top in Ivory Coast MTN Ligue 1 and this club played a major role in improving his skills as a footballer.
After spending two seasons with the club, he moved abroad in 2011, and signed for Friends’ Club Kopundole in Nepal. He spent the next three years playing for different clubs in Nepal like the Three Star club and Manang Marshyangdi Club.
His first move to India was through Himachal-based outfit Gangtok Himalayan SC in the Sikkim Premier Division League in 2015. He turned out to be a key player by scoring four goals for the Himachal club. His displays caught the eye of the scouts of Kolkata Giants Mohammedan SC who brought Dodoz to their base in the very next season. He played a total of six matches for the Kolkata outfit and scored a goal as well.
His longest tenure in India was for Aizawl FC where he played 44 matches across all competitions, scoring nine goals and assisting seven times. He also plied his trade at other Indian clubs such as Bhawanipore FC, Chanmari FC, and BSS Sporting.

Leonce Dodoz spent the majority of his career in India which will help him easily adapt to the Indian conditions, making him a perfect signing for Rajasthan United, who are longing for a winger who can turn things around. Despite being a natural right winger, Dodoz has expertise in other roles such as that of a centre forward, attacking midfielder, and left winger.
Rajasthan United currently sit fifth in the points table. Under head coach Pushpender Kundu, the team is displaying character with a good set of performances.
The Jaipur-based outfit have played nine games in the ongoing I-League campaign where they won four, drew two, and lost three matches. So far, the team has tasted defeat only on three occasions, and that too against teams like Gokulam Kerala, Real Kashmir and Kenkre FC.
The most notable player from their base is the young Uruguayan forward Martin Chaves who has provided four assists and one goal so far. With the signing of Leonce Dodoz, the management is pulling the strings to build a deadly duo up front for the remaining half of the I-League 2022-23.
