The tactician was pleased with his team’s performance.
Hyderabad FC emerged victorious by a 6-1 scoreline in their recent Indian Super League (ISL 2022-23) contest against NorthEast United. The match took place at the G.M.C Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad which saw Manolo Marquez's side outperform the visitors in all departments to reach the top of the table for the moment.
A brace from Javier Siverio, one goal each from Borja Herrera, Odei Onaindia and Joel Chianese, and an own goal from Gaurav Bora, confirmed three points for the Nizams.
Manolo Marquez showed a tactical masterclass once again, working wonders despite missing key players like Joao Victor, Laxmikant Kattimani and Chinglensana Singh. He talked to the media and pointed out how the team must now focus on the next game. Here are the excerpts from the conversation:
Analysis
Offering his analysis of the game, Manolo Marquez said, “I think there were key moments in the game. First thirty minutes, we played really good. We were very clinical and scored practically not every chance but we were clinical so it was normal to win 3-0 in the minutes 25-30.”
“We have many examples from the World Cup - when you are winning by two goals at half time, it is dangerous. If they scored and it was 3-2, it's different. If you score and it is 4-1, it seems very easy because the moment we scored the fourth goal, the game was finished,” he added.
Praise for the players
The tactician also reserved praise for his players who are playing as a unit and producing sensational results. He said, “We are very happy. I think these players deserve a monument in Hyderabad. Three points and we keep going (looking towards) the next game.”
Ending the year on a high
Hyderabad FC will stay on top of the league table by the end of December as Mumbai City do not play again until January of next year. Talking in this context, Marquez said, “I prefer to be on top in the last part of the table. But, we know that we still have to play eight games. We keep going and now let us enjoy the new year. This is the life in professional football. We have to prepare for the next game which will be very hard against FC Goa in Fatorda. We have good memories of that pitch.”
