The India women's U-20 team will kick-off their SAFF U-20 Women's Championship 2023 campaign against Bhutan on February 3. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It will be played from February 3-9, 2023 next year. Apart from India and Bhutan, the other two teams that will participate in the tournament are hosts Bangladesh and Nepal.
The SAFF U-20 Women's Championship 2023 will begin on February 3 with India facing Bhutan in the opening match. The young Tigresses will then play Bangladesh in their next match on February 5, followed by a clash against Nepal two days later. Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal will also play each other once.
SAFF U-20 Women's Championship 2023 will be played in a round-robin format with all four teams facing each other once each. At the end of the round-robin stage, the top two ranked teams will then meet in the final. The final will take place on February 9.
India are the defending champions of the tournament. The previous editions of the championship was played as a U-18 tournament. India won the last edition after finishing atop the group ahead of Bangladesh and Nepal. Both India and Bangladesh finished on the same number of points (9), but the young Tigresses became champions by virtue of a superior goal difference.
This was India's maiden championship win. Bangladesh had won the previous two editions of the tournament. They beat Nepal to clinch the 2018 edition and then beat India in 2021 to lift their second title. The 2021 edition was played as a U-19 tournament.
