Argentina has made it to the finals of the World Cup 2022.

The FIFA World Cup 2022 is coming to an end. Many big nations like Spain, Germany, England, Belgium and Brazil crashed out much earlier than expected. Italy did not even qualify for the World Cup 2022. However many of these teams have accomplished wonders in the FIFA World Cup. Many teams have made it to the finals at numerous World Cups. After Argentina's sixth time in the World Cup final, let's take a look at other nations as well.

Here are the top 5 nations with the most FIFA World Cup Final appearances:

5. Netherlands

The Dutch side has never won the World Cup in its history. However, they have made it to three FIFA World Cup finals. The Netherlands made it to two FIFA World Cup finals consecutively in 1974 and 1978. In 1978, Argentina beat them 3-1 in extra time winning the World Cup. After 44 years, Argentina again knocked out the Netherlands in penalty shootouts of the quarter-finals.

The Netherlands did come close to beating Spain in 2010 final. However, in extra time, Spain took the upper hand. FC Barcelona's Andres Iniesta scored the winning goal as Spain won their first-ever FIFA World Cup.

4. Italy

The Italians have a great reputation in the FIFA World Cup. They have been very inconsistent in recent years. Italy surprised the world by beating England in the Euro 2020 finals on penalty shootouts. However, just months later, Italy failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2022. However, they have made it to the finals of the FIFA World Cup six times.

Italy and Brazil are the only two nations to have won the FIFA World Cup twice consecutively. Italy did it in 1934 and 1938. Italy's last final at the FIFA World Cup was in 2006 against France. The Italians beat France 5-3 on penalties to win their fourth World Cup.

3. Argentina

Lionel Messi's Argentina has quite some history in the FIFA World Cup. Argentina and Uruguay made it to the finals of the inaugural FIFA World Cup. Argentina sadly lost their first-ever FIFA World Cup final. However, after that Argentina made it to the finals in 1978 and 1986 winning it on both occasions.

After winning it in 1986 and losing yet another final in 1990, Argentina did not make it to the finals until 2014. Lionel Messi took the helm and inspired Argentina to reach the final of the FIFA World Cup 2014. However, Germany's Mario Gotze scored a late goal killing Messi's and Argentina's dreams. After beating Croatia 3-0 in the FIFA World Cup 2022, Argentina is in the finals for a record sixth time in their history.

2. Brazil

Pele, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo Nazario, Neymar Jr, and Roberto Carlos are some names among many of Brazil's biggest legends. What is a FIFA World Cup without Brazil in it, Brazil is full of talent and great attacking players. The Brazilians have won the FIFA World Cup most times (5). They have made it to the finals 7 times in their history. However, the last time Brazil made it to the finals was in 2002.

That was the same year they won the FIFA World Cup 2002 against Germany. Brazil was the tournament favourite of the FIFA World Cup 2022. Unfortunately for them, Neymar Jr's late goal was not enough. Croatia knocked them out on penalties.

1. Germany

Earlier West Germany, now Germany have made it to the finals of the FIFA World Cup eight times. This is the most out of any nation in the FIFA World Cup. Germany has won the FIFA World four times in their history. Germany's toughest losses came in 1982 and 1986 when they lost two finals of the FIFA World Cup in a row.

However the very next year, in the 1990 final, Germany beat Argentina to win their third World Cup. Coincidentally, Germany faced Argentina for the third time in a FIFA World Cup final. This was in 2014 when Germany reached their eighth final and won its fourth World Cup. Germany's squad has failed to live up to its expectations after the 2014 World Cup. Germany has failed to progress from the Group stages of the FIFA World Cup in 2018 as well as in 2022.
