The visitors qualified for the playoffs after an impressive win.

Mumbai City FC becomes the first team to qualify for the playoffs of the Indian Super League 2022-23 season as they beat ATK Mohun Bagan 1-0. Lallianzuala Chhangte scored the only goal of the game.

The Mariners performed well, creating several scoring chances but could not breach a resilient defensive effort by the Islanders. There were plenty of notable individual performances from the game that caught the eye.

Here are the player ratings from the game between ATK Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City:

ATK Mohun Bagan (by Waseem Zaidi)

Vishal Kaith - 7.5

Vishal Kaith was the reason Mumbai City FC could not manage to score more than one goal. The custodian made eight saves to keep his team in the game and could not have done more.

Brendan Hamill - 6.0

Brendan Hamill’s performance had one blot and that was allowing Lallianzuala Chhangte too much room to shoot from a central area just outside the box. He led the ATKMB defence well apart from that incident.

Subhasish Bose - 7.0

Subhasish Bose was one of ATKMB’s best performers on the night. In 80 minutes of game time, the defender had 72 touches of the ball, two tackles, three clearances, two interceptions and one block.

Pritam Kotal - 6.0

The ATK Mohun Bagan skipper had a busy night trying to fend off constant threat on the left wing by Mumbai City's Bipin Singh. He kept things solid and was calm in possession of the ball.

Puitea- 6.5

The midfielder played an impressive first half as a Mariner. He completed 95% of his passes and made two successful tackles during the game. The head coach decided to substitute him at halftime.

Asish Rai - 6.5

Asish Rai caused a lot of threats with his attacking runs but could not help his team score a goal. The full-back did a lot of running, delivered four crosses and also had an attempt on goal.

Carl McHugh - 5.5

Carl McHugh delivered a good performance for the Mariners in a midfield with plenty of notable individuals from both teams. He made three successful tackles and had an excellent chance to score with a shot on target.

Hugo Boumous - 7.0

Hugo Boumous created several chances and had plenty of opportunities to score himself. The attacker created four big chances and also took seven shots on goal but could not find the back of the net which was frustrating to see.

Ashique Kuruniyan - 5.5

Ashique Kuruniyan did a lot of defensive work, including winning a one-on-one duel with pacy Vikram Pratap Singh in the late stages of the game. He walked away with a yellow card. The wing-back created two chances and also made two important clearances.

Liston Colaco - 5.5

Liston Colaco did not have his shooting boots on against the Islanders. He got only one shot on target and was wasteful in comparison to his usual standards.

Dimitri Petratos - 6.5

Dimitri Petratos was unlucky to walk away from the game without an attacking contribution. He took 12 corners and created three big chances but the Mariners were simply unlucky in the attacking third.

Substitutions

Lenny Rodrigues - 6.5

Lenny Rodrigues played in the second half and was resilient in duels and won the ball for his team several times.

Federico Gallego - 6.0

Federico Gallego was sent to help his team find an equaliser but he was unable to achieve the objective. He had one shot on target.

Kiyan Nassiri - 6.5

Kiyan Nassiri was promising after coming on as a substitute. The forward had five touches but won a couple of corners and made runs behind MCFC's defence that could have led to a goal.

Md. Fardin Ali Molla - N/A

Phurba Lachenpa – 6.0

The goalkeeper was called into action frequently and he saved all the six shots that came his way along with making two clearances and four punches to maintain a clean sheet.

Rahul Bheke – 6.0

Bheke made three tackles, eight interceptions and a solitary block on an evening when his attacking instincts were significantly pegged back by the ATKMB attack.

Rostyn Griffiths – 6.0

The centre-back completed 95 per cent of his passes as he kept things tidy at the back by instilling an innate sense of composure in the back four.

Mehtab Singh – 6.5

With three interceptions and four clearances, Mehtab played a great hand in holdings things tight in defence amidst multiple attacking moves by the home side.

Vignesh Dakshinamurthy – 5.5

The left-back made two interceptions and tackles each but he was hauled off for the more experienced Mandar Rao Dessai at half-time.

Rowllin Borges – 6.5

Borges shielded the backline with a 95 per cent passing accuracy, coupled with a tackle, interception and block each respectively. He also created two goal-scoring chances.

Ahmed Jahouh – 7.5

Jahouh was a force to reckon with at the centre of the park for Mumbai City FC – making three blocks, four interceptions and nine tackles to break ATKMohun Bagan’s offensive endeavours and initiate the same for the visitors.

Alberto Noguera – 7.5

Noguera won three fours, intercepted twice and made four tackles in addition to assisting Chhangte’s goal to round off a comprehensive performance in a rare start for the Islanders.

Bipin Singh – 6.5

Bipin made a few notable dazzling runs from the left flank as he interlinked incredibly with his fellow forwards and also took two testing shots on target.

Lallianzuala Chhangte – 7.5

Chhangte’s enhanced goal-scoring prowess showed in his awareness to shift inwards towards the centre to be in an appropriate position to take his neat shot for the goal as centre-forward Greg Stewart had drifted wide towards the right flank in that move.

Greg Stewart – 7.0

Stewart created four goal-scoring chances. He played a fluid role, often shifting towards the wings or dropping deep to involve himself to a greater extent in Mumbai’s attacking pursuits.

Substitutes

Mandar Rao Dessai – 6.5

Mandar put in an industrious performance by making five clearances and taking one shot on target in his second-half outing.

Mourtada Fall – 6.0

Fall slotted seamlessly into the heart of the defence and helped Mumbai maintain their defensive superiority in the proceedings.

Vinit Rai – 6.0

Vinit made two interceptions, three clearances and four blocks as he helped Mumbai keep the intensity upbeat in the middle of the park.

Vikram Pratap Singh – 5.5

Vikram won three fouls in 16 minutes and played a role in helping Mumbai avoid any defensive mayhem in the final quarter of the game.

Gurkirat Singh – N.A.
